East Rockaway Students Catch the Waves with Surfer’s Way

On July 22, students from the East Rockaway School District’s Extended School Year (ESY) program once again took to the waves for an unforgettable day of surfing, thanks to a special clinic hosted by the Long Beach-based nonprofit organization, Surfer’s Way.
Held at Riverside Beach, the event brought young students from Rhame Avenue School - ranging from five to six years old - into the ocean alongside experienced surfers. With support, encouragement and plenty of smiles, these young participants demonstrated incredible bravery as they tackled the waves and discovered the joy of surfing.
This marks the second year that East Rockaway has partnered with Surfer’s Way, and the experience has quickly become a favorite. Students emerged from the water beaming with confidence and pride, having achieved something truly special.
Surfer’s Way is dedicated to providing children with special needs the opportunity to experience the freedom and exhilaration of surfing through free summer clinics. Their mission continues to bring joy, empowerment and adventure to countless young lives.
