East Rockaway High School celebrates Earth Day

On April 22, the East Rockaway High School Science Department proudly celebrated Earth Day, embracing this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” The initiative focused on raising awareness about power conservation and the shared responsibility we all have in protecting our environment.
Throughout the week, students are hearing daily morning announcements that highlight conservation efforts and encourage thoughtful reflection on our environmental impact. These messages serve as a call to action—reminding everyone that individual choices can collectively lead to meaningful change.
In classrooms, science teachers facilitated engaging discussions about the significance of Earth Day and the importance of sustainable practices. Students explored energy-saving strategies such as using energy-efficient appliances, turning off lights when not in use, and supporting the shift toward renewable energy sources.
The goal of these activities is to empower students with knowledge and inspire them to be active participants in building a sustainable future. By understanding how their everyday actions can contribute to a healthier planet, students are learning to harness their power for positive environmental impact.
East Rockaway High School is proud to foster environmental stewardship and to celebrate Earth Day not just as a single event, but as part of an ongoing commitment to sustainability.
