East Rockaway High School seniors honored at awards night celebration

On the evening of June 16, East Rockaway Jr./Sr. High School held its annual Senior Awards Ceremony, a heartfelt event celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025. Seniors were joined by family, friends and faculty to recognize their hard work, leadership and academic accomplishments over the past several years.
This year’s ceremony was particularly special, as 85 students were honored — the highest number of award recipients in any senior class in the school’s history. More than $40,000 in scholarships were awarded, generously contributed by local organizations, foundations and memorial funds, all in support of East Rockaway’s graduating seniors as they take their next steps.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks from Principal Mr. Richard Schaffer and Head of Guidance Mr. John Madden, both of whom praised the resilience, determination and spirit of the senior class. Throughout the night, students were introduced by faculty members who shared touching reflections on their character, accomplishments and bright futures.
The ceremony served as a meaningful send-off and a reminder of the strong bonds formed within the East Rockaway school community. As these students prepare for graduation and life beyond high school, the Senior Awards Night was a fitting tribute to their achievements and a celebration of all that lies ahead.
