Important Information about the Star Rebate
This week, the Tax Department launched a new Basic STAR Registration program to protect New Yorkers against the costs of inappropriate and fraudulent STAR exemptions. This initiative is a result of new legislation which requires all homeowners currently receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the Tax Department in order to continue to receive the tax benefit in 2014 and subsequent years.
