East Rockaway Union Free School District is proud to congratulate Jordan Lu and Kevin Lynch, valedictorian and salutatorian from East Rockaway High School Class of 2024.
Valedictorian Jordan Lu has exhibited a thirst for knowledge, ambitious nature and commitment to the school community since his first day of high school. As a scholar, Jordan has consistently ranked at the top of his class, excelling in AP and dual enrollment courses and being honored as an AP Scholar with Honors during his senior year. This unwavering dedication to his academic pursuits even extends outside the traditional school day as Jordan elected to start his mornings taking an AP Italian course that wouldn’t fit into his demanding schedule. In addition to his academic achievements, Jordan has proven himself to be an invaluable member of our school community taking on numerous extracurricular activities. He been a part of the National Honor Society since sophomore year, serving two years as treasurer until assuming the role of president for his senior year. Jordan has also served as class treasurer for all four years of high school, is an active member of the Key Club and runs the lighting booth during Rock Rivalry. His commitment to these extracurricular activities further underscores his dedication to leadership and enhancing the school community. Jordan looks forward to attending Harvard University after graduation to continue his passion for computer science.
Salutatorian Kevin Lynch has found exceptional balance between the rigors of an ambitious academic schedule and the time, energy and focus required to be an accomplished three season student athlete. In the classroom, he is consistently challenging himself with a variety of advanced placement courses and dual enrollment classes, achieving multiple recognitions throughout his high school career including AP Scholar with Honor. Outside classroom, Kevin’s spirit and determination has resulted in great achievements in cross country, winter track and spring track and field, earning him scholar athlete status and the Outstanding Physical Education Student Award by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Throughout the year, Kevin showcases his leadership skills through his involvement in Key Club, where he currently serves as secretary, and as member National Honor Society. He is also a member of the school’s “Canstruction” team, which has collected thousands of cans of food to help feed hungry families. While aways possessing a positive attitude and smile, you truly get to see Kevin’s sense of humor shine through on stage during his annual performance in Rock Rivalry. After graduation, Kevin plans to follow his passion for technology and science and attend college for computer science.
