The East Rockaway Board of Education is proud to recognize Jimmy Lores as the April 2023 Hometown Hero Award honoree.

Jimmy lives and breathes East Rockaway and has dedicated his 35 years with the district to supporting students and enhancing the community with his dependability, generosity and thoughtfulness.

As a volunteer junior varsity softball coach, Jimmy is known for his kindness on and off the field, providing support whenever needed, assisting with fundraisers and always having nutritious snacks available for hungry players.

Jimmy’s favorite role is that of the district’s school bus driver, a responsibility that he takes on with the utmost seriousness, but always with a smile for each student that boards the bus and each parent that he sees along the route.

In recognition of his extraordinary character, tireless dedication and positive contributions to the East Rockaway community, the board of education is proud to bestow the Hometown Hero honor on Jimmy Lores.
