On Feb. 26, students at Centre Avenue School put their vocabulary skills and creativity to the test during “Dress Like a Word Day.” Unlike traditional costume days, students didn’t need to wear elaborate outfits. Instead, they were encouraged to dress in a way that visually represented a word of their choice while wearing a necklace with the word written on an index card.
From bold colors to clever accessories, students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Some dressed as “fanatic”, sporting gear that showed off their passion for a favorite hobby or team. Others became “gamers”, “inventors”, and “chefs”, using everyday clothing and props to bring their words to life. Some even took an artistic approach, dressing as abstract words like “colorful”, incorporating bright patterns and vibrant hues into their outfits.
The event was a fun and engaging way to promote vocabulary development and self-expression. Seeing the creativity and thoughtfulness students put into their words was truly inspiring. The entire school community is already looking forward to next year’s “Dress Like a Word Day” and the imaginative words students will bring to life!
