Superintendent’s Conference Day

Values and Priorities Graphic thumbnail231175

On November 8th, Superintendent Mr. DeTommaso hosted a very productive day of leading and learning for all East Rockaway faculty and staff.

The annual Superintendent’s Conference Day began with district-wide team building exercises, including a “Rock, Paper, Scissors” tournament and an activity called Cross the Circle in which district staff got to know more about one another.

This was followed by the Superintendent’s Keynote Address by Mr. DeTommaso focused on the central theme: “Kids First, Always”. He shared the values and priorities of the district, as well as the importance of teaching 21st century skills and read a letter from an alum explaining why East Rockaway Schools provided an unforgettable experience.

Mr. DeTommaso’s Keynote was capped off with a video created especially for the conference showing the importance of each person’s contribution and how we need to “Walk This Way” together to put Kids First! Click here to view the video

Staff then got the opportunity to select from dozens of informative sessions and workshops. These included applications for using technology in the classroom, innovative protocols to enhance learning and retention, ideas for co-teaching and small group instruction models and maximizing collaboration with a flexible classroom environment.

The team was also invited to take a break with a mindfulness and meditation session and learn about our community during a walking tour led by the president of the East Rockaway Historical Society.

Mr. DeTommaso and the administration team thanks the staff who made this day possible, those who participated and everyone who works every day to make East Rockaway Schools an amazing experience for our students. #WEROCK
