The East Rockaway Board of Education is proud to recognize Daniel Vito as the March 2023 Hometown Hero Award honoree.

Mr. Vito is an East Rockaway High School graduate and lifelong Rock. After high school he attended CW Post to become a health and physical education teacher, feeling the pull of his beloved community, returned to his alma mater to serve as a teacher and coach.

Students, alumni, colleagues, and community members look to Mr. Vito for his support and leadership both on and off the field. He dedicates his time to many local charities and is always available for those in need of personal advice or just a compassionate ear. As a member of the East Rockaway Athletics Department, Coach Vito’s contributions and initiatives have earned him many accolades, including Assistant Football Coach of the Year by the New York State High School Football Coaches Association, and paved a bright path for the future of the sports program.

In recognition of his extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions to the East Rockaway community, the Board of Education is proud to bestow this honor on Daniel Vito.
