Rhame students in Mrs. Kassie Tillem-Spero’s sixth grade math class worked on a multistep project for a local craft fair by using geometry in the real world. They worked in groups to identify the shape of the booths based on a given description.
Students determined the measurements for each booth from a minimum number of square feet required by each vendor. From there, they created a map of the craft fair, plotting the figures on a coordinate plane. Groups constructed large maps at the craft fair to help visitors find the location of each booth.
