The district is proud to congratulate five amazingly talented Junior-Senior High School students who have swept the 2022 Congressional Art Competition by placing first, second, and third with ties for both second and third place.

Selected students include Natalie Hayes, who took first place; Isabella Schaefer and Mimi Bilardello who tied for second place; and Grace Del Valle and Sofia Valdebenito, who both took third place.

The nationwide high school arts competition is hosted by members of congress every year. It offers the opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in the congressional district.

As a first-place winner, Natalie’s artwork will hang in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. for a period of one year. This is the fourth consecutive year that a student from East Rockaway has taken first place in the competition.

The district applauds these students on this wonderful achievement and thanks Congresswoman Kathleen Rice for this opportunity.
